Leadership responsibility sucks when you know the people you lead are watching YOU and how you respond to difficulties and challenges. Leaders must be held accountable to God because only God gives leaders the ability and opportunity to lead. To me sometimes that is the part that sucks the most!! It would be easier to just hang loose and join the crowd’s apathy. That spark of leadership responsibility based on judgment day accountability makes Godly leaders have heart and take the high road.
My leadership responsibility stories seem to have the same theme woven in and out. When confused, lazy, unmotivated, discontent followers are forced to face change (what a nasty word) they seem to have no hesitation to express their unrefined opinions of leadership actions. The suck part of being the leader of change is leaders must take the high road and guard their tongue and lead by example. An effective leader must get up-close and connected with those that he leads then must NEVER violate the vulnerability of the trust and confidence while the people the leader is leading are kicking and bucking at every move. I have discovered while trying to tame rebellion in the human spirit, leaders must temper their rebellious spirit along the way. That sucks! They are watching YOU and how you react and respond to adversity and prosperity.
I passionately love being a leader. I do embrace the responsibility of leadership. I never take leadership for granted, even if sometimes I wish I could be a follower but that would suck too.
