Unfortunately, many believe we’re facing a shortage of good leadership. In fact, 90% of Americans believe the nation is facing a crisis of leadership.
So what does a ideal leader look like?
The definition of a good leader varies from person-to-person, but there are some constants. According to a study done by the Harvard Business Review, a good leader is ethical, goal-oriented, communicates well, and is flexible, to name a few adjectives.

It’s a part of the learning process. But, if a leader is routinely failing more often than succeeding, it’s time to revisit the drawing board. The performance of employees often rides on the performance of a leader. A repeatedly, failing leader often results in a failing team. No bueno.

Whether they have ideas, a real problem, or they just want to air some grievances, it’s important that you know how to be a deep listener. You might wind up with some innovative solutions to problems. At worst, you just helped someone vent some frustrations, let off some steam, and calm down.
Everyone makes mistakes, even the best leaders. Let your teammates know when you’ve made a mistake, especially one that impacts them. Failure to do this can make your teammates wonder if they’re the ones responsible for a mistake instead. Also, being accountable will remind your team that you can be trusted and held to your word.
